I was first attracted to Yoga for the physical / health benefits and noticed how I always felt renewed and relaxed after classes. As my practice deepens, the benefits have become more profound and life changing. I’ve been practicing Yoga since 2012 and completed my 200 hour Yoga teacher training at The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga in 2016. I am excited to offer classes at Pender Island Yoga, as I continue to constantly learn. I feel honoured to have been inspired and instructed by such amazing teachers at the centre.

Yoga gives us the tools to attain peace, happiness and good health …. all we have to do is practice.

Jenny Montgomery

Jenny began her practice in 2004 and completed her yoga and pilates trainings in 2006 - she has been teaching ever since! As a Certified Instructor of both pilates and yoga, she is driven to enable people to achieve their health goals in simple, natural and fun ways! Jenny will be the first to tell you to listen to your body to achieve your highest health, and has discovered that yoga and pilates are amazing choices. She is certified in all pilates equipment (reformer, cadillac, chair and barrels), and specializes in rehabilitating injuries as well as pre and postnatal pilates and yoga.

Jenny began her yoga and pilates journey in Ontario and was fortunate enough to train at Stott Pilates Headquarters in Toronto. Her yoga teacher training took her to the Baja coast of Mexico where she trained with Victor Oppenheimer, one of the few yoga instructors to be trained and certified by B.K.S. Iyengar. In 2007, she fulfilled a life goal and moved out West (where Jenny’s heart truly belongs). Jenny is working on completing her Advanced Teacher of Therapeutic Yoga Certification. As Jenny continues to expand her knowledge of different areas of holistic health, she brings her own unique combination of warmth, compassion and enthusiasm to each session.

Jenny owns and operates Salish Sea Yoga & Pilates Studio. Jenny offers both group classes and private sessions. For a list of Jenny’s group classes click here.

I tell people that Jenny is my angel.
In 2015 I acquired an injury to my collarbone, which affected my shoulder. I wasn’t getting anywhere with my recovery. I was depressed. I couldn’t do any of the things I loved to do, or work as much as I needed to. I was doing exercises on my own and not getting anywhere. My muscles atrophied. I thought this was how it was going to be for me from now on. Enter Jenny...we worked together one on one for a few months using her knowledge of the shoulder, through her pilates and yoga training. Jenny was patient with me as I’d lie on the mat crying about what I used to be able to do. Her program, her positivity and strength and knowledge helped me to achieve EVEN STRONGER SHOULDERS THAN I HAD BEFORE THE INJURY!
Seriously, Jenny is amazing. She can help you. I can’t recommend her enough!
Thank you Jenny!

I love how Lee guides us into her Svaroopa yoga classes easing us to a level of meditative, rejuvenating and relaxing poses.

I would recommend to anyone to “be there” and see for yourself.

It’s not all about how I feel during her class but also how I feel afterwards when I get home.

I love Power Yoga at Pender Island Yoga mostly because I love Jenny! I have been practicing yoga for many years and she is one of the best yoga instructors I have ever had. This level of experience and expertise on a small island like Pender? Yes! Jenny actively guides us through an advanced, challenging practice and when we are done, I feel incredible! I must also mention the studio space, overlooking the ocean. The sounds, the sights, and the smells truly elevate my practice and my wellbeing. Thank you, Jenny.

I absolutely love Les’s class. I’m new to yoga, having taken one class elsewhere over a decade ago and not enjoying the experience at all, I gave it up. I’m glad I gave it another chance, and can not imagine finding a better instructor. Les is calm, pleasant and reinforces that perfection is not required and that ‘the poses are there to serve you’ as I think he puts it. Even though I’m by far the most novice in his class, I never feel that way. He seems to reach everyone, irregardless of experience in a way that suits them. Highly recommended.

I took Les’s class to reintroduce myself to yoga after a year’s reprieve. He articulates the intent and technique for each position clearly, offering variations where they are available. I could not have been eased back into practice any better. His instruction and guidance increases the rhythm and pace of each sessions incrementally in sync with the development of the class. His focus on breathing and the many extra sessions he offers are an amazing gift to Pender Island!

I enjoyed the experience and confidence Jenny exhibits in her classes. The detailed and well articulated instruction was easy to receive and understand, which made for a wonderful Yoga class!
